WACAAD to Host GhaFBBI 2026 Follow-Up Webinar on 18 August

Accra, Ghana. The West Africa Centre for Agribusiness and Apiculture Development (WACAAD) will host a follow-up webinar on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, revisiting the commitments made at July’s GhaFBBI 2026 forum and reporting on early progress against its seven-point roadmap.

Titled “From Forum to Action: A GhaFBBI 2026 Follow-Up Webinar,” the two-hour virtual session runs from 10:00 AM UTC and is organised by WACAAD with continued support from the European Union Delegation to Ghana. It is designed to extend the reach of the in-person forum to stakeholders — particularly rural beekeepers, regional associations and international partners — who were unable to travel to Accra for the original event at the CSIR-Food Research Institute in July.

What the Webinar Will Cover

The session is structured around four themes: a concise update on action taken since GhaFBBI 2026; a closer look at what adopting the HiveHoney Certification Mark actually requires in practice for producers and processors; an update from the Ghana Standards Authority and Food and Drugs Authority on the national honey standard review and the pathway toward EU compliance; and an open, moderated forum for stakeholder questions.

The webinar’s target audience mirrors that of the original forum: beekeepers, processors and exporters; regulators including the FDA, GSA and Veterinary Services Directorate; CSIR-Food Research Institute and academic partners; the EU Delegation and other development partners; and any stakeholder or association that could not attend in person.

Sustaining Momentum After the Forum

WACAAD has been candid that the real test of GhaFBBI 2026 lies in what follows it. A concept note prepared ahead of the webinar notes that momentum built over a two-day, in-person forum “can dissipate quickly once participants return to their institutions and daily responsibilities,” framing the webinar as a low-cost, high-reach way to keep that momentum alive within weeks of the original event, rather than months later.

Beyond reporting back, organisers expect the session to produce a recorded, shareable resource extending the lifespan of the forum’s key messages, and to surface early signals of ongoing challenges from stakeholders who could not be reached in July. A note attached to the session’s planning materials also flags an intention to move toward monthly webinars going forward, to keep gathering input on current challenges in the sector as WACAAD shapes its programming.

The webinar will be held via Zoom, Meeting ID 890 1884 1422, Passcode 566759. Stakeholders with questions ahead of the session can reach WACAAD at info@wacaad.org.
